Two Sèvres ceremonial plates with a bird motif dated 1753, blue brush marks with the letter A and an indistinct painter’s mark, one instance of the letters ‘ap’ incised, and an old adhesive label bearing the annotation ‘Vincennes 1753’, flat, slightly concave dessert plates with fine polychrome overglaze painting depicting a landscape island with a pair of birds in the centre and framing floral arrangements on a sinuous ‘bleu céleste’ band, the latter outlined in gold; a circumscribing floral garland in relief gold painting and a gold rim, gilding partially worn and one plate broken in the centre, D 21 cm each.
