1526 - A collection of approximately 25 documents and photos belonging to Brigadier Guy Chevassut, born in 1924, who was drafted in 1944 from the Oran recruitment center. He was enlisted in November 1943 and served with the 501st RCC. After regrouping in England, he took part in the final stages of the Normandy campaign and then in the liberation of Paris. He was wounded on September 12, 1944, by shrapnel from a Panzerfaust, was cited twice, and was demobilized in September 1945. Citation in the brigade order for the 1/501 RCC dated October 1944. Medical examination certificate issued in Oran in January 1945. Demobilization record from September 1945 at the 8th Spahis depot. Duplicate of individual service record issued in 1963. 21 photographs, mostly 6x9 cm, removed from an album and depicting him in 1945 with the Spahis, as well as another family member in 1940 and 1941. Accompanied by 4 insignia. 2 DB insignia manufactured by Cartier Paris. Silver-plated embossed armored corps beret insignia. 501 RCC, numbered 1658, smooth back; 2 boleros with AB hallmark.
