An SSG 82 manufactured by VEb Thälmann for the East German Secret Police ("Stasi"), GDR Caliber 5.45x39, No. 1011, matching serial numbers. Polished, cold-hammered, free-floating barrel, length 60 cm. German proof marks from 1994. Chamber lock with four locking lugs. Adjustable trigger pull. 5-round magazine. Slide safety on the right side of the firearm above the trigger. Original bluing. Sport stock with cheek piece and checkered pistol grip. The butt plate is adjustable in length and height. The matching 4x magnification scope is from VEB Carl Zeiss Jena (Model 4/S 4×32 scope, reticle 1) and is mounted using a Suhl swivel mount. The Sniper Rifle 82 (SSG 82) was developed for the GDR’s special police units to counter terrorism. Only approximately 1,600 units were produced in total. In pristine, found condition; can be significantly improved through careful cleaning. Length: 108 cm.
