A large medal depicting Field Marshal Colmar Freiherr von der Goltz, circa 1915 Blackened cast iron (partially worn). The obverse features a relief portrait in uniform with the subject’s name and the artist’s signature “F. Eue.” On the reverse, uniformed figures marching, along with the artist’s signature “Grünthal,” the dedication “To the Founder of the Youth Militia,” and the date “1914/1915.” In a matching blue-and-white patterned case with red velvet lining and a green silk lining on the lid. Signs of wear and age. Diameter 12.4 cm. In 1911, von der Goltz founded the Jungdeutschland-Bund, an umbrella organization for right-wing youth associations. Condition: II
