An M 1886 helmet for generals of the Bavarian Army, circa 1914–1918 Black-lacquered fiberglass shell, silver-plated fittings (tarnished). On the front, the screwed-on emblem (one washer is missing); mounted on top is the color-enameled coat-of-arms medallion introduced in 1913 (enamel chips). Convex, leather-backed scale chains attached to rosettes featuring both officer cockades. Cross-shaped base with four star screws; a fluted funnel screwed on top with a white-and-blue cock’s feather plume (faded). Ochre-colored leather sweatband, with ochre-colored ribbed lining sewn onto it (missing sections, tears); the front visor is lined in green, the rear visor in red. Partially slightly damaged, with clear signs of wear and age. A well-preserved, worn helmet, consistent with its age. Rare. Condition: II–III
