A saber similar to the Hungarian infantry Prima Plana, circa 1798 Slightly curved back blade (darkened, mottled) with a hollow edge on both sides and a double-edged point in line with the back; faint traces of decorative etching at the hilt. Smooth non-ferrous metal guard with an oval, openwork guard plate; black leather-wrapped hilt with fine wire wrapping. In a black leather scabbard (cracked, scuffed, small nicks) with brass fittings (attached) and a carrying knob. Partially slightly damaged; shows signs of use and age. Length 86.5 cm. Cf.
