Half-length portrait of a staff officer in the Dutch Navy, circa 1830 Oil on canvas, unsigned. Half-length portrait of a Dutch naval staff officer, holding the rank of admiral or captain, in uniform. Three silver stars on the epaulets; on his right chest, the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Netherlands Lion (the highest and oldest civilian decoration in the Netherlands). Partially slightly scuffed and bumped; the canvas is torn on the left epaulet and once below it; two additional repairs are visible on the reverse. In an old, black-lacquered profile frame. Edges slightly bumped and worn; shows signs of use and age. Image dimensions 55.5 x 65 cm; frame dimensions 64 x 73 cm. The person depicted may be Dutch Vice Admiral Johan Daniel Musquetier.
