A Swiss or Italian bill, 15th/16th century Sturdy, slightly curved blade, tapering upward in a hook shape. Several stamped dot marks on one side. On the reverse, a forged parry hook that curves strongly forward. Round, open-ended ferrule on one side. Mounted on a modern wooden shaft with a round profile. Length of the head: 38.5 cm; total length: 267 cm. An early polearm developed from the peasant “Hippe,” A comparable example is illustrated in Müller/Kölling, Europäische Hieb- und Stichwaffen, p. 262, no. 267. Provenance: From a private collection in Vienna. Condition: II–III
