She had been unwell, lazy, and busy, but “[…] I had asked Julie to tell you that we were expecting you; you haven’t come, and I’m starting to get annoyed. The beautiful season is passing us by, and we’d really like to show you the island. As an artist, you’ll enjoy the beauties of nature. Besides, it’s really high time you got to know the Guernsey family. [...] Hurry up and pack your bags, pack your drawing boards, and come on over. For the sake of your marital safety, my husband is starting to think of his little sister as his property, and if you don’t come to claim your wife, we won’t give her back to you.
