On the reverse side of the canvas, a round purple stamp, mostly illegible, with “Wien” legible; on the lower stretcher bar, a printed paper label reading “Hermann Eschke (Berlin 1823–1900)”; handwritten pencil notes on the back of the frame, not clearly legible. Coastal landscape; on the left, a sailboat at the shore, next to it two figures; on the right, a vegetated headland with buildings, and a brightly lit coastal area on its left flank; birds above. A net-like age-related craquelure in the impasto-like, light-colored area of the headland, with isolated instances in the remaining areas of the painting.
