“Portrait of Anthonis van Dyck,” after Anthonis van Dyck (Antwerp 1599–1641 London), probably 19th century Oil on canvas, with relining. Half-length portrait of the young Anthonis van Dyck in dark clothing with a gold chain of honor, his right arm held in front of his body, against a dark, neutral background. A copy of approximately the same dimensions as Van Dyck’s self-portrait, now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (Inv. No. 405), created around 1620/21 and revised in 1627. The paint layer exhibits pronounced craquelure, widely open in places, particularly in the dark areas, as well as numerous traces of rubbing and scratching; the surface has a partially uneven sheen. Frame with scuff marks and isolated defects in the gilding. Painting dimensions 80 × 66.5 cm, frame dimensions 97 × 83.5 cm. Condition: III
