33 - Two miniatures from a Book of Hours, in Latin, illuminated manuscript on vellum, [France, mid-fifteenth century], two rectangular cuttings, each with an arch-topped miniature (the Visitation of the Magi and the Flight into Egypt) within a thin gold frame, remnants of borders with coloured acanthus leaves and other foliage and a wide gold bar with scrolling fleshy-leaved ivy-leaves overlaid on one, remnants of 11 lines of text on reverses with dark red initials, one-line initials in gold on blue and dark pink grounds, 2-line initials in same colours enclosing sprays of foliage on gold grounds, line-fillers in same, trimmed to edges of miniatures, scuffed and rubbed, with losses to gold and paint, signs of old water-staining and scuffing on reverses, fair condition, 92 x 65 and 92 x 75mm.
