Meissen Königliche Porzellanmanufaktur Johann Joachim Kaendler A rare Meissen porcelain figure of a Japanese woman carrying a child on her back Unmarked. Chips to the robe and the brim of the hat restored. Height 12 cm. 1744, the model by Johann Joachim Kaendler, the firing contemporary with the model, the decoration later. In Kaendler’s work reports for August 1744, it states: “A similar little Indian woman with a child, cut and given for moulding.” Provenance Christie’s London, auction 10 July 2007, lot 129.
