A carved oak figure of St. Elisabeth Polychromed, with gilding over red bole and chalk ground, stamped decor. Carved three-quarters in the round, flattened at the back. Showing a richly dressed, standing woman, shown in three-quarter profile, formerly part of a Visitation group (Visitatio Mariae, Luke 1:39-40). Antwerp guild mark (hand) on the top of the head. The raised arm reattached, minor retouches and losses to the polychromy. Height 28.9 cm. Antwerp, late 15th C. Provenance Prof. Dr Henny Otto Goldschmidt, Eindhoven. Private collection, Belgium.
