23 - Pietro Benvenuti, *Galleria Riccardiana*, painted by Luca Giordano, published by Marquis Francesco Riccardi Vernaccia, Knight of the Order of St. Stephen; engraved by Lasinio Figlio after drawings by V. Gozzini, under the direction of Knight Pietro Benvenuti. Florence: Published by Guglielmo Piatti, 1822. Folio (545x383 mm). One blank page, Title page, Dedication to Ferdinand III and Francesco Riccardi, 52 pages + [1] table of contents page, and XIII full-page plates, engraved by Lasinio Figlio. Bound in a contemporary half-morocco binding, with marbled paper covers and a spine decorated in gold. Heavy copperplate paper. The project was initiated at the behest of Marquis Francesco Riccardi Vernaccia with the aim of documenting and celebrating the frescoes on the vault of the Gallery of Mirrors in the Medici Riccardi Palace, painted between 1682 and 1685 by Luca Giordano. The vault depicts the Apotheosis of the Medici dynasty, featuring mythological scenes and allegories of virtues and human progress, executed using a mixed technique combining fresco and lime wash painting. The work was executed under the artistic direction of Pietro Benvenuti, while Giovanni Paolo Lasinio (Florence, 1789 – 1855), known as Lasinio the Younger, who engraved the plates from preparatory drawings executed in pen and ink by Vincenzo Gozzini, a draftsman specializing in print reproduction who was active in Florence between the second and third decades of the 19th century. (1) Binding with minor defects; some chipping on the covers. Some plates show traces of water stains.
