11 - Filippo Arena and Mario Cammareri, Three plates from *Della natura, e coltura de fiori fisicamente esposta*. Two treatises by Rev. Ignazio Arena da Piazza...: Papaver / Apocynum or Fritillaria crassa / Ranunculus. Palermo: published by Angelo Felicella, MDCCLXVIII [1768]. Colored etching. 193x297 mm. Sheet: 288/290x420/430 mm. Three plates from one of the most significant Italian botanical works of the 18th century, compiled by the Jesuit priest Filippo Arena (who, however, signed under the name of his uncle, Abbot Ignazio), who also created the plates himself together with Mario Cammareri. Some images are derived from *Phytanthoza iconographia* (1737–45) by Johann Wilhelm Weinmann (1683–1741), others from *De florum cultura* (1633) by Giovanni Battista Ferrari (1584–1655). (3) Plates mounted with two points at the top within a modern cardboard mount. Wide, uncut margins; one of the sheets has a gap in the lower margin that has been restored and a tear on the right side.
