Van Cleef & Arpels An American platinum 18k gold diamond and ruby rose sprig clip brooch. In the form of a stylised rose branch with two open floral rosettes. The branch set with 26 baguette-cut diamonds, the leaves with approx. 36 brilliant- and single-cut diamonds, accented with two small round rubies. The three-petalled flowers have a rippled surface and are set in a cluster design, each with six brilliant-cut diamonds, nine oval-cut rubies and 27 and 28 brilliant-cut diamonds respectively. Hinged clip fitting with double pin and safety clasp. (Total diamond weight approx. 5.24 ct, G/H, VS). Clip signed “VAN CLEEF & ARPELS N.Y.”, numbered 35947. Tip of one branch broken off and lost. With old repairs; two diamonds missing and one ruby replaced. Height 4.8 cm. Weight 25.31 g. Van Cleef & Arpels, New York, 1950s.
