Matthieu RICARD (Born in 1946) Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche crossing the Gotsé Pass, at an altitude of nearly 5,000 meters Art print, UltraChrome HDX pigment inks, Epson Premium Glossy paper, mounted on 2mm Dibond 90 x 60 cm Label on the back of the mounting. This exhibition print may show slight marks or imperfections. Proceeds from the sale of this print will benefit the Karuna Shechen Association and its relief programs for victims of the August 26, 2026, floods in Nepal. The name of the pass means “white hair,” because, as the saying goes, even if your hair is black when you begin the climb, it will be white by the time you reach the summit! During his visit to Eastern Tibet in 1988, Khyentse Rinpoche traveled for three days in a palanquin from Derge to Dzongsar Monastery, carried by a dozen people. Along the way, residents of villages and nomadic camps jostled to take turns carrying him every quarter of an hour, as carrying Khyentse Rinpoche was considered a great honor.
