This work has once again given me the opportunity to shut myself away with *Vivre à Madère*: it is truly my usual journal, though one would not think so upon reading this book [arrow pointing to the printed title *Un Singe en hiver*]. I think of you with admiration and affection. Antoine Blondin.” The novel *Vivre à Madère* was published by Jacques Chardonne in 1953.
