Two quires detached at the top of Volume 2; a few light, very scattered foxing spots; corners worn. NEW EDITION, following those of 1837 and 1857, of one of Grandville’s most famous illustrated books. A very complete copy of the 54 PLATES, out of text, printed on tinted vellum, including 52 remarkable COLORED PLATES (29 in the first volume and 23 in the second) and 2 black-and-white botanical plates at the end of the second volume, as well as numerous woodcut drawings and initial letters within the text.
