Horst Antes. Sixty-three Offsets. 63 offset lithographs, mostly in color. 1965. 29.5 × 21.0 cm. Ten sheets signed, all numbered. Call time: approx. 4:12 p.m. (Schedule subject to change) One of 230 copies. - The first ten prints are signed. - The complete series, together with the signed print statement, is loose in the original linen case. - Printed by Eugen Natz, Karlsruhe, on offset paper; 60 sheets have gray screen-printed marks on the reverse. - Horst Antes was an early advocate—and likely one of the first artists—to champion the recognition of offset printing as an original printmaking technique. This is true of any segment of the public that has not yet grasped that the ‘originality’ of a print does not depend on the printing process itself, but on the manner in which it is applied; that the attribute ‘original’ does not refer to a technical process, but to the artist’s intellectual achievement” (quoted from Lutze, p. 8). - Supplement: Horst Antes. Offset prints with a text from the *Allgemeines Deutsches Reimlexikon* by Peregrinus Syntax—Leipzig 1826—and an afterword by Kurt Martin. Karlsruhe/Nuremberg 1966. With six five-color offset lithographs. Original paperback. - One of 450 copies (total print run 600, all sheets loose).
