Château Mouton Rothschild, 2003. A.O.C. Pauillac, Médoc, Bordeaux, France. Premier Grand Cru Classé, 1855 Bordeaux Classification, promoted in 1973. Red wine. 1 bottle, 75 cl. James Suckling: 96/100. Condition: Fill level at the neck (IN). Original dark maroon capsule, intact, with gold lettering, the estate’s coat of arms, and a circular embossed seal at the top. Original main label, intact, well-adhered, and perfectly legible, with small brownish stains from moisture or aging, without significant loss of the image or inscriptions. Original back label, intact and legible, with scattered stains from age. Good overall condition. It comes from a private collection cellar, maintained under optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s five Premiers Grands Crus Classés and a historic icon of Pauillac, whose wines—dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon—stand out for their concentration, complexity, and aging potential. The 2003 vintage, marked by exceptionally high temperatures, produced a wine of remarkable maturity and richness, with notes of black fruit, cassis, cedar, tobacco, and spices. This bottle also holds special collector’s interest: its label commemorates the 150th anniversary of Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild’s acquisition of the estate in 1853 and features his portrait superimposed on a fragment of the historic sales contract, exceptionally replacing the usual artwork by a contemporary artist.
