In 1954, he earned his high school diploma from the Art High School in Pescara. The following year, after winning a competitive exam for the position of Drawing Professor, he began teaching at a middle school in Giulianova, a career he abandoned permanently in 1975 to devote himself entirely to painting. Between 1969 and 1975—the period to which the work up for auction belongs—he reworked images of daily life and current events, on the one hand using a highly realistic painting technique and, on the other, composing the image in a surreal manner, with alienating effects.
