Stunning SAVONNERIE-style knotted rug East Asia. Third third of the 20th century. Wool pile on a cotton backing. An ivory-colored central medallion, featuring a floral motif with molded edges and surrounded by multicolored stems and bouquets, takes pride of place in the center of an elongated, highlighted cream-colored field. A double frame in shades of purple and ivory, with honeycomb patterns at the cardinal points, adorned with garlands, floral arrangements, and polychrome vases, encircles the entire design. The border features pearl necklaces and outer “molding” in antique gold. Beautiful and harmonious presence. L_580 cm H_ 328 cm Expert: Frank KASSAPIAN
