LORI PAMBAK Rug Caucasus-Armenia. Late 19th century. Wool pile on a wool foundation. A navy blue field (spandrels) featuring small trees of life supports a cherry-red counterfield, at the center of which sits an ivory, serrated, diamond-shaped medallion with a honeycomb-patterned anthracite lattice, adorned with Median stars incorporating plant motifs. Two large, multicolored, oblong, multilobed floral corollas complete the design. The frame is divided by a central ivory border featuring a floral garland, flanked by two additional navy blue borders with a succession of polychrome florets.
