Farid Rasulov, Azerbaijani (B. 1985- ) Pomegranate in the Crown of the Night, 2026; Wool and silk 164 x 122 cm = 2 m2 Density: 43 x 43 cm Farid Rasulov (b. 1985, Shusha, Azerbaijan) is an Azerbaijani multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, installation, 3D graphics, and animation. Originally trained as a medical doctor at the Azerbaijan State Medical University, he transitioned to the visual arts shortly after graduating, quickly establishing himself as one of the leading figures of contemporary Azerbaijani art. His conceptually driven practice transforms ordinary objects and everyday experiences into thought provoking works that challenge conventional perceptions while deliberately resisting interpretations. Rasulov fixed has represented Azerbaijan at the 53rd and 55th Venice Biennale and has exhibited extensively in museums, galleries, and international biennials across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. His solo exhibitions include projects at YARAT Contemporary Art Space, Sanatorium Gallery (Istanbul), Rabouan Moussion Gallery (Paris), and Aidan Gallery (Moscow), while his work has been featured in major international exhibitions such as FLY TO BAKU, OSTRALE Biennale, and the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival. In 2016, Rasulov received the Arte Laguna Prize in the Sculpture and Installation category, further reinforcing his international recognition. Through an interdisciplinary practice that bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic language, he continues to explore perception, culture, and the poetic potential of everyday life. Farid Rasulov's artistic practice explores the extraordinary within the ordinary, transforming familiar objects, everyday experiences, and cultural references into compelling contemporary visual narratives. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, 3D graphics, and animation, he creates immersive works that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination while encouraging viewers to reconsider the world around them. Although his works often invite intellectual reflection, Rasulov deliberately resists fixed interpretations, believing that meaning should emerge through the viewer's own experience rather than through predetermined narratives. Rooted in observation and visual experimentation, his practice elevates the commonplace into moments of contemplation, where perception, memory, and cultural identity intersect. Through this open-ended approach, Rasulov invites audiences to engage with the familiar from unexpected perspectives and to discover new significance in the everyday. In 2026, Rasulov collaborated with Azerkhalcha OJSC on the limited-edition carpet collection "Threads that Keep Fairy Tales Alive – Karabakh Carpets." Reinterpreting traditional Karabakh carpet motifs through a contemporary visual language and innovative 3D weaving techniques, the project merges Azerbaijan's rich textile heritage with contemporary artistic expression, further expanding Rasulov's multidisciplinary practice.
