Property from the Private Collection of Sybil Maitland Salvin Calverley (1866-1925) and thence by Descent Lots 59-62 An early Safavid blue and white pottery flask, Iran, late 15th century - early 16th century Of drop shaped form on a short foot, the slender neck rising to a knop and widening at the now broken mouth, decorated in dark blue on a clear white ground, the decoration divided into two panels by solid bands, the lower with trees and bridges, the upper with trees, flowers and birds, a repeating spiral motif to knop, 24cm. high Provenance: Private Collection of Sybil Maitland Salvin Calverley (1866-1925) and thence by Descent; inherited from Osbert Salvin (1835-1898) and by repute Frederick DuCane Godman (1834-1919)
