Pair of Art Deco two-light sconces, ca. 1930. Silver-plated metal. In good condition, consistent with their age. Measurements: 15 x 17 x 9 cm each. Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. This pair of candelabras fully embodies the Art Deco style of the interwar period, characterized by geometric forms and stylized ornamentation of classical inspiration. Each piece consists of two curved arms arranged symmetrically around a fluted central shaft, resting on a stepped circular base. The decoration combines beaded moldings, fluted motifs, and plant-like elements reduced to geometric patterns—common features in the decorative arts of the 1920s and 1930s. The silver finish enhances the play of light on the surfaces and underscores the elegant, architectural character of the piece as a whole.
