Art Deco-era side table. ca. 1930. Macassar ebony veneer, with carved floral motifs. In good overall condition, with signs of wear consistent with its age. Measurements: 55 × 62 × 73 cm. Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. An original Art Deco-era side table, made around 1930, notable for its unique geometric design and the attractive color contrast of the Macassar ebony. This fine wood, particularly prized in Art Deco cabinetmaking for its intense grain and dark hues, was widely used during the 1920s and 1930s for its extraordinary decorative qualities. The piece combines straight surfaces with curved side panels, arranged around various open compartments and a central drawer. Its design is enhanced by triangular inlays carved with stylized floral motifs, which introduce a delicate ornamental hallmark to the predominance of geometric forms.
