GANNE (Louis) (1862–1923), French composer and conductor, best known for *La Marche lorraine* and the operettas *Les Saltimbanques* and *La Mascotte*. Autograph note signed “Louis Ganne” to Madame Brasseur. Paris, February 13, 1903. 1 page, in-12 format, on letterhead bearing his address, 5, rue Puvis-de-Chavannes. A congratulatory note addressed to the wife of the actor and singer Jules Brasseur, on the occasion of an honorary distinction. “My warmest congratulations to the charming Academy officer, with my best regards to both of you.” Louis Ganne thus extends his compliments to Blanche-Marie Brasseur, wife of Jules Brasseur (1828–1890), the famous French actor and singer and founder of the Théâtre des Nouveautés. This correspondence attests to the composer’s connections with the Parisian theatrical and artistic circles of the Belle Époque. Autograph address on the reverse to Madame Blanche-Marie Brasseur, 4, rue de Chantilly, Paris. Stamp and postmark preserved. A few signs of age.
