Romanov Dynasty—Grand Duchess Mariya Aleksandrovna, Duchess of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Edinburgh, seated in a horse-drawn sleigh. (Tsarskoye Selo?), (no information on the photographer or studio), (taken 1906–1909). Vintage. Gelatin silver print. 13 x 18 cm. Seated to the right of the Grand Duchess is an unidentified person, accompanied by three servants. The daughter of Alexander II bore her husband Alfred five living children after their wedding in 1874 and died in Switzerland in 1967. - The print shows slightly uneven exposure; it is annotated in ink on the reverse and bears a small date in lead. - Provenance: Formerly owned by Grand Duchess Maria Aleksandrovna (1853–1920), the younger daughter of Alexander II of Russia from his first marriage, Duchess of Edinburgh and Saxe-Coburg and Gotha; private collection in Switzerland; private collection in southern Germany.
