As early as the mid-1950s, Jean Tinguely began producing a series of generative works under the title *Métamatics*: machines that produce works of art. With this series, Tinguely not only addressed the introduction of the robot as an interface in our society but also questioned the role of the artist, the artwork, and the viewer. - Mounted on the reverse at several points on a chamois-colored cardboard backing affixed to a mat.
