Holderried Kaesdorf, Romane. *The Monuments*. Pencil on vellum. Signed and dated in pencil in the lower right corner. 1988. Sheet dimensions: 48 x 30.5 cm. Romane Holderried-Kaesdorf attended the etching and drawing class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 1942 to 1944. The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart honored the socially engaged caricaturist—whose works exhibit elements of Art Brut as well as a visual kinship to George Grosz and James Ensor—with a solo exhibition. - Reverse shows traces of a previous mounting. - Provenance: 2005 Galerie Ohse, Bremen; since then in a private collection in northern Germany.
