Collection of five woodcuts on handmade paper. Circa 1516/19. Image dimensions: approx. 23.6 x 21 cm each. Sheet dimensions: 24 x 21.5 cm and 31 x 24.5 cm. Bartsch (Burgkmair) 82, Hollstein (Beck) 12.9, 12.44, 12.61, 12.71, 112.99, Messling (New Hollstein) 10, 46, 63, 73, 101, 4th edition. - The five woodcuts formerly attributed by Bartsch to Hans Burgkmaier are part of the series “The Saints from the ‘Family, In-Laws, and Relatives’ of Emperor Maximilian I,” comprising a total of 123 illustrations, which was executed by various woodcutters from Jost de Negker’s workshop in Augsburg between 1516 and 1518. - These prints likely come from a later edition. - All sheets bear the green stamp of the Leipzig collector Erhard Kaps (Lugt 3549) on the reverse; the “Saint Landrada” also bears the stamp of Frederick II Augustus of Saxony (Lugt 971) in the lower right corner on the front; “Saint Amalberga” also bears the stamp of the Scharfen Collection (Lugt 3951) on the reverse; “Saint Guilielmus” and “Silvinus” also bear the stamp of Sibyll Kaps (Lugt 3574) on the reverse, and “Saint Modericus” also bears the stamps of Ines Kamps (Lugt 3551) and Ines Beckendorf-Kaps (Lugt 3575). — Strong impressions, some with a beautiful raised relief on the reverse; four with a fine knurled edge. Slightly dusty, some slightly browned, a few with light spots; otherwise very well preserved. *
