Original illustrated canvas cover with cord binding (cover partially slightly browned, cover partially with small discolorations, dusty; cover, as is almost always the case, slightly warped). A luxurious showcase and portfolio of the printing company founded in 1871. The first part (company history) was elaborately printed in blue, black, and silver and typographically designed by W.H. Deffke, who had also designed the company logo. At that time, Deffke ran the “Wilhelmwerk” advertising cooperative together with C.H. Hinkefuss. The cardboard sheets for the proofs do not simply hold mounted sheets, but mostly complete, elaborate product or sample catalogs along with their contents. The printing company impressively demonstrates that its production was among the world’s best in terms of quality (and presumably also in pricing). Undoubtedly produced in only a very small print run. This publication is considered the most elaborate and technically superior ever produced in the German printing industry. - As is always the case with such assemblies, there is some slight waviness in places; some pages have minor fingerprints; a few of the printed sheets have tears along the edges or crease marks; the bottom edges show some water marks and waviness; the staples holding the inserts in place are rusted, with slight rust staining on the backing paper. *
