Note from the German editorial board: “Two additions included in the Russian edition arrived too late for the German edition.” German-language copies smuggled across the border were distributed in Berlin, Leipzig, and Bremen. One of the early joint writings by Zinoviev and Lenin, in which they describe World War I as a manifestation of imperialist conflicts and contrast it with the class struggle of International Socialism. Such positions, which questioned the validity of patriotism, were brought up for discussion at the Zimmerwald Conference, primarily by Karl Liebknecht’s group. — Title page verso and p. 3 stamped, slightly browned. — Rare. *
