Avant-garde - Eastern Europe - Stilinovic, Sven. Podroom Artist's Book. Includes 2 original photographs and handwritten texts. Zagreb, Podroom Artists' Group, 1979. 21 x 29.5 cm. 10 stapled sheets. Sven Stilinovic’s solo exhibition took place from March 6 to 13, 1979. To mark the occasion, the artist published a catalog featuring images of the works and an accompanying text. In the text, he writes about “large” works and explains what defines them (their dimensions, the use of materials that are as unusual as possible, ambiguity, and layering). He believes that artists who create “large works” know where to present them, and that this takes place not in small spaces but in larger, significant exhibition venues. For this exhibition, he displayed a series of texts on paper as well as two stone cubes measuring 1 x 1 x 1 m, titled “Skulptura 1” and “Skulptura 2.” On March 1, 1979, he installed “Skulptura 3” in Ribnjak Park and therefore published two photographs of the sculpture in the catalog. — Slightly brown-stained in places; partially wavy due to the manufacturing process.
