This is not the title published commercially regarding this technical feat, but rather a volume—for which we have no further evidence—containing original photographs that document the salvage operation of 1916–1917 in detail. Its purpose was to document the achievements of the lead firm, Dyckerhoff & Widmann. This Gneisenau is not identical to the one sunk during World War II; this particular ship was sunk by the British during World War I and, after being salvaged in 1917, was moored in Antwerp until it was sold following the end of World War I. - Some prints are slightly silver-bleached; otherwise, they are well-preserved. #
