The folder—the only one of its kind—was a gift from the city of Wunsiedel to Bismarck on his 80th birthday, as stated on the opening dedication page. Each photograph bears a printed title, with the publisher’s information printed in the margin: from the studio of the Berlin photographer Eduard Mertens (1860–1919). Depicted are: A panoramic view of Wunsiedel; the Kursaal and castle in Alexandersbad; the bathhouse with spring in Alexandersbad; Prinz Ludwigs Platz; the island of Heligoland; Luisen-Sitz; the entrance to Luisenburg with the restaurant; the Kösseine summit; Burgstein; the castle ruins on the Waldstein; Rudolfstein, rock formation with the “Schüssel” on the Waldstein.—Dedication page slightly stained, folder flaps somewhat foxed, otherwise in good overall condition.
