Provenance: The Collection of M. L. Lévy (d. 1917); His sale, Galerie Georges Petit, Paris, 18-19 June 1917, no. 17, as 'British school', (15,000 Francs to Fouline[?]). Anon. sale, Christie's, London, 30 May 1974, lot 11, as 'French school'. Private Collection, UK. Note: The present portrait resembles Lawrence's dreamy portraits of elegant ladies, often set, as here, against a hazy background. This portrait, with its sitter gazing out confidently towards the viewer, her hair arranged in curls, particularly recalls Lawrence's portrait of Portrait of Charlotte Augusta Oom, née Papendiek, which sold at Christie's, London on 1 July 2026, lot 177.
