Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present work closely recalls Dietrich’s portraits of bearded old men, which are often characterful and humorous. A comparable work by Dietrich sold at Dorotheum, Vienna, on 17 May 2022, lot 75043/1, and a pair by Dietrich sold at Gorringes, Sussex on 29 June 2021, lot 297.
