IVÁN QUESADA (Oviedo, 1975). “The Maid,” 2024. Oil pastel on paper. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. Includes an information label from the Aurora Vigíl-Escalera Gallery (Asturias). Measurements: 40 x 30 cm; 52.5 x 42.5 cm (frame). This work, executed in oil pastel on paper, is Iván Quesada’s reinterpretation of the famous composition *After the Masked Ball* by the French painter Charles Joshua Chaplin (1825–1891). The piece establishes a dialogue between nineteenth-century pictorial tradition and the sensibility of contemporary figurative art, taking as its starting point a historical model that the artist transforms through his unique humorous approach. A self-taught Spanish artist, Iván Quesada has developed a career centered on contemporary figurative art and portraiture. In recent years, he has solidified his presence on the national art scene through his representation by the Aurora Vigíl-Escalera Gallery, participation in art fairs such as Estampa, Art Madrid, and Art Miami, and solo exhibitions including *Una nueva etapa* (2023) and *Realidad perseguida, realidad desmembrada* (2025). His work is included in institutional and private collections, including those of the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation, and the Marqués de Oliva Foundation. A certificate of authenticity signed by the artist is attached.
