His body of work encompasses his characteristic nail pictures and nail reliefs, as well as object art, installations, light objects, kinetic art, and prints. Through his textured surfaces, he explored the interplay of light and shadow, movement and rhythm, perception and perspective, as well as the effects of space and material. Thematically, he also engaged with spirituality, transience, war, violence, destruction, memory, and the concept of peace. Key artistic peers and influential figures in his life include Heinz Mack and Otto Piene, as well as Yves Klein, Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni, Jean Tinguely, Enrico Castellani, Jesús Rafael Soto, and François Morellet.
