He settled in Paris in the late 1950s, initially moving within the circles of Surrealism, happenings, and experimental film. From the early 1960s onwards, he developed his characteristic technique of painted collage: he assembled source material from comics, magazines, advertisements, film stills, propaganda images, and art-historical reproductions, subsequently transferring these compositions into large-format paintings that filled the entire canvas. Superheroes, politicians, pin-ups, science-fiction figures, and art-historical references converge in these works.
