Nuremberg Doctors' Trial: (4) Original Press Photographs Four original vintage glossy 10 x 8 press photos from the first of the twelve 'subsequent Nuremberg trials,' all stamped on the reverse with a "Günther Peis" photographer's credit and US Army stamp: "From Public Relations Photo Section, Office Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, Nürnberg, Germany, APO 696-A, US Army." Subjects include Nuremberg courtroom scenes, a view of the defendants' dock as Gerhard Rose pleads 'not guilty,' and the prosecution tables on November 21, 1946, the arraignment day for the Doctors' Trial. In overall fine condition. The Doctors’ Trial, formally United States of America v. Karl Brandt et al., opened in November 1946 as the first of the twelve subsequent Nuremberg proceedings conducted by American military tribunals after the International Military Tribunal concluded. Twenty-three physicians and administrators were prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity arising from lethal medical experiments and the Nazi euthanasia program, making these photographs vivid contemporary records of the opening stage of one of the most consequential postwar prosecutions.
