Domaine Hubert Lignier, Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru, Vieilles Vignes, 2018 (6 x Magnum) Region: Burgundy Fill Level: excellent Capsule: ok Cork: ok Label: excellent appearance Packaging: 2 original wooden cases Notes: The Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes cuvée is a blend of two Premier Cru parcels: Faconnières, a vineyard planted in 1947 and 1960, and Chenevery, planted in 1936, 1942, and 1943. Located near Clos de la Roche, its soil is very thin. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée produces dense, complex, and smooth wines, made from small clusters affected by millerandage. 2018 was a sun-drenched vintage that combined high yields with excellent ripeness. A very wet winter gave way to a mild spring, which allowed for excellent flowering. During the hot and very dry summer, the vines benefited from the water reserves built up early in the season. The harvest took place on September 4 at the estate. The vintage shines through its rich, spicy, tannic, and full-bodied wines.
