Napoleon III center table with Royal Vienna porcelain plaques, France, c. 1870 Carved wood gilded with gold leaf, with enameled and glazed porcelain plaques. Dimensions: 78 × 64 × 76 cm. An elegant French center table from the Napoleon III period, crafted from richly carved wood gilded with gold leaf, supported by cabriole legs joined by a shaped crossbar. The top is lavishly decorated with enameled and glazed porcelain plaques from the Austrian Royal Vienna manufactory, set within elaborate ornamental frames. The large central plaque depicts a stately interior scene and is signed “Seller,” while the smaller plaques feature figures, scenes, and landscapes painted in polychrome. The piece is distinguished by the richness of its decoration, the combination of gilded carving and painted porcelain, and the strong decorative character typical of historicist furniture from the second half of the 19th century. Marked on the underside. Condition: good overall, with signs of age and use consistent with the period.
