TOMMASO CASCELLA (Rome, 1951). Chandelier (2000). Gilded bronze sculpture. Dimensions: 45 × 18 × 23 cm. This functional and ornamental sculpture is designed as a three-branched candelabra, crafted with a structure of sinuous lines and abstractly inspired geometric forms. The composition features a vertically oriented central body, crowned by three small circular saucers for holding candles, arranged at different heights and joined by delicate curved rods. At the base, a structure of four stylized supports, topped with small spheres, holds a framework of arched elements and organic forms reminiscent of anthropomorphic figures and biomorphic motifs. The gilded bronze surface lends luminosity to the piece and accentuates the interplay of lines, volumes, and empty spaces, giving it a remarkable visual lightness and a playful character. The work reflects the artistic language of Tommaso Cascella, an Italian artist from a prominent family of painters and sculptors, whose work combines geometric abstraction with organic forms and symbolic references. His formal approach shows affinities with the sculptural universe of Joan Miró (1893–1983), especially in his use of biomorphic elements, fantastical structures, and a poetic, expressive language, as well as with certain works by Alexander Calder (1898–1976), due to the balance between curved lines, suspended forms, and an open and dynamic spatial conception. The work is unsigned and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist on the back of a photograph. It is in good condition, according to the provided documentation. Provenance: Galleria Il Patio, Ravenna; private collection, Padua. Lot stored in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
