NORTH AMERICAN SCHOOL. 20TH CENTURY. Portrait of a Woman, 2000. Black-and-white photographic print. Dimensions: 35 × 28 cm. Portrait of a woman with short hair and earrings, her face slightly turned and her gaze directed toward the viewer. The figure is draped in a flowing white garment, with one arm raised and her hand behind her head. The composition is notable for the intense contrast between the dark background and the luminosity of the face and the fabric, whose folds are particularly prominent. The side lighting accentuates the features and creates a striking chiaroscuro effect, giving the image an intimate atmosphere and great expressive power.
