A portfolio of drawings featuring approximately 30 works to discover, including - Brian Dowdall (American, 1948–2018) - Alain Lacoste (French, 1935–2022) - Jean-Luc Giraud (French, 1945–2026) - Jaber Al Mahjoub (Tunisian, 1938–2021) Various techniques. Various formats. Provenance: collection of Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), writer, essayist, and art critic, passed down through the family. A visionary artist based in Baltimore, Dowdall is associated with the American Visionary Art Museum. Born in Laval, he was destined for a career in teaching before a stay in a psychiatric hospital upended his path; his encounter with Robert Tatin proved decisive. Alain Lacoste transforms salvaged wood and stone into bas-reliefs populated by intertwined figures and animals, combining graphic design, color, and wordplay. He is considered one of the pioneers of French singular art. Orphaned at a very young age, he worked as a shepherd, then as a baker and boxer before devoting himself to painting; Jaber was noticed by Jean Dubuffet. His highly colorful gouaches and acrylics, featuring figures outlined in black, address social and political themes; nicknamed “the king of Beaubourg,” his work is represented at the LaM in Villeneuve-d’Ascq. Laurent Danchin wrote the catalog essay “Jaber, the Birds of Art Brut” (exhibition at La Gaude, September 16–25, 1991, organized by Valérie Jeaume and Pierre Farro), devoted a chapter to him in *Aux frontières de l’art brut* (Lelivredart, Paris, 2013, pp. 95–104), and co-directed the documentary *Jaber* (1998) with Alan Govenar.
